Thanks to our MRS 2012 sponsors!

The Swim Team would like to thank Prek Leap Agricultural College for once again hosting this annual event. The support and cooperation from the Director and his staff at the college is very much appreciated. We hope that we can continue this collaboration in 2013 and beyond.

International SOS (corner of St. 51 & St. 228) who will once again provided the medical team (paramedic, nurses & ambulance), without which this annual event would certainly not be possible. Thanks to Ed, the International SOS nurses and Sue for supporting the MRS once again!

The Shop on St. 240 who will provide nourishment post-swim for our intrepid Mekong River swimmers. Thank you for your continued support with the MRS and the sandwiches, Griet!

The plethora of much deserved pizza will certainly be welcomed by our winners! Luna d'autunno on St. 21 will provide pizzas for all winning swimmers in each of the under 18 age groups! Thank you Elain for donating these.

Snow Yogurt (with branches in Sovanna, Sorya & Pencil shopping centers) are sponsoring this years MRS with 50 cups of snow yogurt to share between the winners in each of the age groups. Thank you Ing for organising this.

You will all have seen this amazing piece of artwork promoting the MRS 2012 on flyers, in magazines and at the Swim on the t-shirts and banners. A highly talented local artist and one of our iCAN parents, Peap Tarr, is the person who created this logo. We really appreciate Peap creating and donating such an iconic image for the Mekong River Swim once again.

K'NYAY Khmer & Vegan Cuisine & K2 on St. 268, will once again play a huge part in the run up to the MRS 2012, as they are one of the two registration points across the city. Not only will Run, Sern & their team at K'NYAY promote and register swimmers for the MRS 2012, they will also turn out to volunteer as safety crew at the Swim and they will donate $100 worth of K'NYAY meal vouchers to 1st, 2nd & 3rd positions in both the mens and womens +18 years category. K2 will also donate all the drinking water for the swimmers at the event. Great effort guys!

Last, and by no means least, a MASSIVE thanks to the team of volunteers at iCAN British International School & iCAN PLAY Early Years Centre! After the cancellation of MRS 2010 due to a lack of volunteers, the Swim Team at iCAN offered to take over the organisation of last years MRS. It was a real team effort and over 50 of the iCAN staff and school community volunteered at the Swim in 2011. iCAN is also the other registration point across the city and their organisation will once again ensure that the event runs smoothly. The Swim Team at iCAN have been planning the MRS 2012 for the past few months.

If you would like to volunteer your help on the day of the event, please contact The Swim Team at mekongriverswim@ican.edu.kh

Thanks for your support!

Just over 3 weeks to go!

You may have already seen the MRS 2012 flyers appearing all over Phnom Penh the past few weeks. The logo for this year's Swim was designed by local urban artist Peap Tarr. You can find out more about him by searching for him on FaceBook and YouTube.

The logo will appear on this year's MRS t-shirts that all swimmers and volunteers will receive on the day.

Any swimmers who have already returned their completed registration form and entry fee to either K'NYAY or iCAN British International School are listed below. There are just over 2 weeks to go until the entry fee doubles on Saturday 24th March, and as you can see places are rapidly being taken. Registering for the MRS 2012

Only 4 weeks to go until the much anticipated 16th Annual Mekong River Swim takes place!

We've had over 50 swimmers register already and places will be allocated on a 'first-come, first-served' basis ... so e-mail us now for your registration form at

mekongriverswim@ican.edu.kh

Registration forms can also be collected from our two registration points:

iCAN British International School - please register with Roseta

K'NYAY Khmer & Vegan Cuisine restaurant - please register with Run

Last year prospective MRS swimmers asked about swimming pools to train in. The Swim Team has been training recently up at the Olympic pool which is ideal (50m long) to train for the MRS. It opens from 5am-5pm and costs 6000Riel (1.5USD) for foreigners (3000 Riel for Cambodian nationals). No lockers as such, so best just take your swimwear and a towel. It tends to be busier in the afternoons after 1pm when it fills up with students from some of the local schools. You pay at the top of the spectator area when you enter. 14-16 lengths of the pool approximately equates to the swim distance!

We will update our blog with a list of swimmers already registered at the start of next week. Registered swimmers will also receive an e-mail update about this year's swim.

Thanks for your support!
